    About Us

The Spanish Trail Playhouse, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is Washington County’s only all-volunteer community theatre, dedicated to bringing high-quality live performances to the region. Established in 1962 and recognized in 1964 by the Florida Arts Council as a charter member, the Playhouse originally operated until 1968, staging renowned productions such as Carousel, Oklahoma!, and The Sound of Music. Revived in 2007 under the leadership of Kevin Russell, the Playhouse reopened in 2008 with Steel Magnolias and found its permanent home in the historic Chipley High School Auditorium. Now in its 18th season, the Playhouse continues to enrich the community through musicals, plays, artist series, and concerts. We invite you to experience the magic of live theatre and join us in fostering the arts in Washington County.
